Mesothelioma is a very grave illness and one for which treatments have not been perfected. Asbestos-caused illness

Radiation therapy

There are various procedures in terms of radiation therapy which include Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy or IMRT, and proton beam radiotherapy. The idea behind these innovative treatments is to attack the malignant mesothelioma cells without causing real damage to the surrounding cells.

Other treatments
As mentioned, other treatments are being developed all the time which give hope to sufferers of this disease and of other asbestos-caused illnesses. Hyperthermic intraoperative chemotherapy for instance, is a treatment which combines drugs with surgery to attack mesothelioma at its core, thus enhancing the chances of successful treatment.
